Sealant Saturday: Pennsylvania College of Technology plans free oral care for children, teens | News, Sports, Jobs

On Saturday, November 9, Pennsylvania College of Technology will offer free dental care to children and teens ages 7-18.

According to a press release, from 9 a.m. to noon at the college’s dental hygiene clinic, volunteer dentists and dental hygienists and Penn College students will provide free oral exams, sealants and dental education. during an activity entitled “Sealing Saturday.” Appointments are required and can be made by calling 570-320-8007.

Sealants are clear protective plastic coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth to help prevent tooth decay. They will be applied as needed and will not be placed where tooth decay is present.

Penn College has hosted Sealant Saturday since 2003. More than 1,000 people have received free dental care at the Penn College Dental Hygiene Clinic through this initiative.

The clinic is located on the second floor of the Breuder Advanced Technology & Health Sciences Center and offers low-cost services to the public, the press release states.
