Man accused of killing teen in Calhoun County pleads not guilty

FARNHAMVILLE, Iowa (KCRG) – The man charged with murder of 17-year-old in Calhoun County pleads not guilty.

Michele “Luna” Jackson was reported missing from Farnhamville on September 22. His body was later found the next morning.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office said Nathaniel Bevers-McGivney, 21, of Gowrie, was charged with first-degree murder following her death.

Criminal complaints say Jackson’s mother met Bevers-McGivney and said he was covered in blood and had some of Michele’s belongings.

Bevers-McGivney was taken into custody. The criminal complaint states that when law enforcement questioned Bevers-McGivney about blood on his clothing, he asked to speak to an attorney.

Investigators say the location of Jackson’s body suggests Bevers-McGivney hid the body to cover up a crime.

Bevers-McGivney’s lawyers filed a written not guilty plea Friday.
