Mechanic crushed by Scion xD in his own garage

  • A mechanic almost died after being hit by a car while working in a garage.
  • The technician was crushed by a Scion xD that pinned him against a giant tool cabinet when its brakes appeared to fail.

A professional mechanic avoided being sent to the great human junkyard in the sky when he was mowed down in an accident in his own garage by a customer’s car.

CCTV footage from inside the multi-bay workshop opens with a mechanic preparing to receive a car onto the lift. The roller shutter door is raised, the elevator is in the low position and all that remains is to move back one of the sliding transverse cylinders on the main elevator.

But while he’s still pulling on the jack, a Scion xD sedan suddenly enters from the left, and we immediately see that it’s going way too fast. It bounces off the ramp leading to the elevator and moves so quickly that by the time the mechanic realizes what’s happening, he’s only about a meter from the front of the car.

He jumps, instinctively stretching his arms out in front of him, but of course he doesn’t stand a chance, even with a car as light as the xD. He was thrown backwards by the impact with the car, like Marty McFly plugging his guitar into the faulty amp at Doc Brown’s house, and thrown just past the end of the elevator and into a huge tool cabinet metal.

But that’s not the end of his problems as the car continues to roll and it also crashes into the garage’s tool cabinet, leaving the mechanic nowhere to be found. The driver doesn’t back up, perhaps out of panic or because he thinks he’s going to do more damage, and he jumps out of the car shouting “Sam! Sam!” Sat ! »

The driver obviously knows the mechanic, and he also wears white gloves, so it seems clear that he is also a worker at the garage and is not just a customer who confused the pedals. The Scion may have suffered a brake failure and perhaps the brakes were already inoperative and no one told the driver. But whatever the problem is, it’s moving too fast.

We don’t see the aftermath, but the person who posted the footage on Twitter, who claims to be linked to someone working in the workshop, claims the mechanic escaped without serious injury.
