Mitchell firefighters battle grass, structure fire near Old Mill Road – Mitchell Republic

MITCHELL — A grass fire near Old Mill Road, northwest of Mitchell, was reported to authorities around 2:40 p.m. Wednesday.

When authorities arrived on scene, firefighters indicated that the blaze was reaching the structures.

Authorities were on scene for more than an hour, and much of the fire was brought under control within an hour.

The Mitchell Fire Department was not immediately available for comment on the fire, but is expected to do so later Thursday.
