Volunteer Prince William has several opportunities for the rest of the year, so be sure to check them out below.

Greetings, Prince William: We have an exceptional volunteer opportunity on short notice but would be ideal for groups! KABOOM!, AWS in Communities And Prince William County Parks and Recreation invite yourself, your family and friends to help build a new play space during Construction week Wednesday through Saturday at Fairmont Park, 9805 Fairmont Ave., Manassas 20109.

Many volunteers are needed to complete this important project, as building a complete playground is not an easy task. The schedule is Wednesday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The inauguration ceremony will take place Saturday at 2:30 p.m. This would be a fabulous opportunity for offices, groups, clubs, etc. to bring smiles back to the children of this neighborhood!   • You can help vulnerable families host a festive Thanksgiving meal! ACTS: Share the bounty distribution will take place in November and they would like volunteers to help sort donations and assemble Share the Bounty bags in October and November. This will take place at their food donation center, 17958 Dr. David Cline Drive in Dumfries, Monday through Thursday. Volunteer hours are flexible between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. You will feel good knowing that your giving spirit will help food insecure families have a happy Thanksgiving.
  • BEACON for English Language and Literacy is recruiting volunteers to teach adult ESOL students! They have a Urgent need For In-Person Evening Volunteers for the current fall semester, as well as their upcoming winter session, which begins December 2. Morning classes are held Monday and Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and evening classes are held Tuesday and Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. pm No teaching or language experience is required and training is provided.   • Head Injury Treatment Services (BIS) has a constant need for volunteers Provide a link to survivors for survivors of head trauma. This is a one-on-one friendship program for brain injury survivors; The program connects BIS clients with volunteers who can help them socialize in the community and rebuild their social skills through friendship. Outings once a month for coffee, a walk, playing chess, lunch, etc. can help a client get their life back on track after such a traumatic event! Please visit their website for more information.
  • Do you like supporting live concerts? Clearbrook Arts Center located in Lake Ridge needs volunteers Event Machinists 18 years and over to contribute to the smooth running of their events. Duties include guiding performing groups to their designated staging areas, assisting groups with loading/tearing down, and assisting with stage setup/tearing down.   • Education majors and retired teachers! THE Literacy and Engagement Action Project (LEAP) has George Mason University is seeking volunteers ages 18 and older to provide literacy instruction to students in grades K-5 at the Boys & Girls Club of Dumfries and the Georgetown South Community Center in Manassas. It’s a paid internship throughout the school year, Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Training and materials are provided. Interns must pass a background check. You will be excited as you help a child open up new worlds through literacy and reading!
  • You can help fight food insecurity! NVFS leads a Fall Food Drive to support the SERVE Resource Center Against Hunger and fight food insecurity! The whole family can get involved – donation drop-off dates are through Wednesday at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8712 Plantation Lane, Manassas 20110.   • If you love helping children get excited about learning, we have a wonderful opportunity for you! Pink space theory needs a parent volunteer to serve as a link between program participants and Pink Space Theory. The Liaison will attend events to connect with other parents and help direct them to their resources, as well as provide necessary support options within the school and community. The schedule is weekday evenings, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., for a total of approximately six hours per month; some weekends would also need your help. Volunteer must reside in Prince William County and bilingual Spanish skills are required. You’ll love seeing participants get excited about learning and increase their confidence!   • Help SERVE Hunger Resource Center restock their shelves! On November 1st from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., SERVE organizes “Unpack the truck” at SERVE’s Hunger Resource Center, 10056 Dean Drive, Manassas 20110. Volunteers ages 16 and older are needed to help unload, weigh, sort and place donated food in designated areas of the warehouse. Be prepared to lift up to 20 pounds; volunteers should be able to volunteer throughout the entire shift. This is a great way to access service hours and help restock the Hunger Resource Center so that SERVE can continue to provide food assistance to local families experiencing food insecurity!
  • Is your office, club, scout troop or service group looking for a volunteer opportunity? Streetlight Community Outreach Ministries will open its hypothermia shelter located at 14716 Potomac Mills Road in Woodbridge and groups are needed to prepare and drop off meals for 30 adult residents from November 1 through March 30, 2025. Meals are needed each evening and must be prepared off-site. and dropped off at the shelter between 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Your group will bring comfort to the homeless with a warm, nourishing meal they can enjoy during the cold winter months!
