A wrong-way driversuspected of being drunk, nearly collided with Vice President Kamala Harris’ motorcade Monday evening in Milwaukeecreating a moment of high tension for its security agents, reported the New York Post.
The 55-year-old drove his SUV onto an exit ramp on the wrong side of Interstate 94, coming dangerously close to the vice president’s motorcade.

The near miss happened just before 8:30 p.m. local time as Harris’ motorcade was heading to the airport after an event.
According to reports, the man headed straight towards the line of vehicles, with footage showing him overtaking the motorcade within seconds. A Milwaukee County Sheriff’s deputy, part of the security detail, was able to stop the vehicle just as it approached Harris’ entourage.
The driver was arrested after failing several field sobriety tests and being found with an open beer can in his vehicle.
The driver, who apparently did not remember entering the highway or nearly hitting the motorcade, expressed surprise when officers informed him of how he approached the vice vehicle -president. He said he had no intention of harming Harris or anyone associated with her campaign, according to the arrest report.
Authorities charged the man with operating while intoxicated and second-degree serious endangering safety. He is currently being held without bail.
United States Secret serviceresponsible for Harris’ protection, acknowledged the incident and expressed gratitude to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office for its quick response.
Although there were no injuries or damage, the incident raised concerns about the security protocols surrounding prominent political figures, especially given the proximity between the impaired driver and Harris.
While the Secret Service’s ability to prevent such breaches has come under scrutiny, the incident adds to ongoing discussions about the agency’s preparedness following previous security issues, including an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump earlier this year.
