Man arrested after allegedly killing woman, elderly couple at Catawba County home

MAIDEN, NC (WBTV) – A man is behind bars after allegedly shooting and killing a woman and her elderly parents in Catawba County Tuesday night.

The shooting happened around 7:45 p.m. at a home on PJ McRee Road, just off Highway 321 Business in Maiden.

Young police said that when police arrived, they found all three people dead. A 10-year-old child was also there, but was not injured.

Less than an hour after the shooting, Issac Nathaniel Christenbury, 27, was arrested along Maiden Highway in Lincoln County. Police said he fled the scene after the shooting.

Christenbury is charged with three counts of first-degree murder and is being held without bail at the Catawba County Detention Center. He is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.

Police said they were not looking for any other suspects.

A neighbor said the woman’s parents arrived from out of town earlier this week, although authorities have not confirmed this.

It is unclear what connections, if any, Christenbury may have had with the woman or her parents.

Authorities have not yet released the names of the three victims.

The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) are assisting in the investigation.
