Man arrested after barricading himself in Seattle apartment

A man was arrested after barricading himself in a Seattle apartment and threatening to shoot police Monday night.

The Seattle Police Department said that around 10:49 p.m., officers responded to the 170 block of 12th Avenue after receiving reports of a robbery.

Through their investigation, officers found probable cause to arrest a man for robbery and illegal possession of a firearm.

According to SPD, when they attempted to contact the man, they quickly found that he was barricaded in his apartment.

The department said it attempted to communicate with the man several times before the Hostage Negotiation Team (HNT) and SWAT were called to the scene.

“The suspect threatened to shoot police if they entered his unit and threatened self-harm multiple times,” SPD told KOMO News.

After long negotiations, the man finally decided to leave his apartment. He was then taken into custody by SWAT.

Police conducted a search warrant at the apartment and recovered a .22 caliber revolver with ammunition.
