(Gray News) – A man in Texas is accused of killing his co-worker because he was obsessed with her and he was angry because she was taking long breaks from work.

Authorities said Travis Merrill, 51, was arrested after allegedly shooting and killing co-worker Tamhara Collazo at his office.

The two men both worked at an Allegiance Trucks office in Lewisville, about 30 miles north of Dallas, police said.

Merrill allegedly told detectives that he was obsessed with Collazo and began to become increasingly angry that she was taking what he considered to be “unauthorized long breaks” during work hours. work, and that she paid him no attention.

He told detectives his co-worker intentionally avoided him once he returned to work, which further fueled his anger.

He said he brought the guns to work several times, but did nothing because “it didn’t seem like the right time.”

After several months, Collazo told Merrill to stop monitoring her during her breaks and reported her behavior to HR.

He was ordered to speak to a counselor before being allowed to return to work, KDFW reported.

On Oct. 17, when Collazo was returning home from his lunch break, he followed her inside her cabin and shot her several times, police said.

He told investigators that Collazo “caused her pain and he wanted her to feel pain, WKRC reported.

Collazo was rushed to hospital but later died from her injuries.

He is now being held on $10 million bail.
