Two children seriously injured in Milwaukee chase crash

A 36-year-old man led authorities on a chase with two young children in the vehicle before crashing into a house, seriously injuring the children, according to Milwaukee police.

The pursuit began around 7:47 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of West Meinecke Avenue after officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop for a registration violation. The driver stopped first; however, he fled as officers approached and a chase ensued, according to police.

The chase ended when the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a home in the 1700 block of West Center Street. The driver was arrested and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A firearm was recovered and police said charges will be filed with the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.

Two children, ages 8 and 2, were taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said. A message to a victim’s parent was not immediately returned Tuesday.

According to videos posted on social media, the side of the house was damaged in the accident, which exposed the insulation.
