Bengaluru City University: Bengaluru University responds to caste objections: Textbook content updated |

Bangalore: Following objections from Karnataka Rajya Savita Samaja about a caste-based reference in a Kannada textbook, Bangalore City University (BCU) replaced P Lankeshthe literary play of ‘Kurudu-Kanchana’.
Savita Samaja objected to the state’s new education policy manual for the topic “Business Design Analytics” taught in an undergraduate course. The group said that on page 44, there was a use of a caste-based reference using a word restricted by the government.
BCU immediately took steps to replace the text with “Ondu-Bagilu” by the same author. The change was made on the recommendation of the Board of Studies for Kannada, a university statement said.
