Las Cruces woman faces 11 credit card abuse charges, accused of stealing from co-workers

After three arrests, a 40-year-old Las Cruces woman faces 11 credit card abuse charges, with authorities believing she stole the cards from co-workers’ purses and used them all over El Paso.

According to the El Paso County Police Bureau Precinct 4, Las Cruces resident Jennifer Munoz Bird is facing a total of 11 charges of credit card or debit card abuse with bonds totaling $24,500, with three different victims accusing Bird of stealing and using their credit. cards without their consent.

Bird was first arrested on August 5, after two victims came forward in July, alleging that they had discovered “unauthorized” purchases on their credit card statements and that their cards had disappeared from their bags by hand.

According to law enforcement, officers obtained two arrest warrants for Bird after an initial investigation showed surveillance video of Bird using the credit card at different retail stores around El Paso and after having learned that Bird worked with the two victims and had stolen both cards. at work.

Bird was then arrested a second time – exactly one month later – on September 5, after deputies obtained seven additional warrants as the investigation revealed several other offenses against the two victims.

Then, according to law enforcement, Bird was arrested a third time on Wednesday, October 9 after a business provided deputies with another surveillance video that allegedly revealed another of Bird’s “unauthorized purchases.”

During this latest arrest, authorities discovered a new complaint against Bird, so before allowing him to go free, Bird collected another charge.

On three occasions, Bird was incarcerated in the El Paso County Detention Center.

Authorities believe there may be more victims and also said she may have victimized other people in Dona Ana County.
