4 juveniles wanted after car crash caught on camera in Port Richmond, Philadelphia, leaves 1 seriously injured and vehicles damaged

PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia police are searching for at least four juveniles after a crash left a man seriously injured and several cars damaged.

It happened shortly before 7:30 a.m. Sunday at an intersection in the Port Richmond neighborhood.

The video shows a black Dodge Ram traveling at a high rate of speed on Venango Street while a Chevrolet truck was traveling north on Richmond Street.

That’s when the driver of the Dodge allegedly ran a red light and struck the Chevrolet.

According to investigators, the collision caused the two cars to slide onto several parked and unoccupied vehicles on the roadway.

Another video from a local residence shows the cars colliding with parked vehicles.

“There was a cloud of smoke, I guess, from the bags of cement. I looked, the guy was laying on his car. All the neighbors came out, it was sad,” recalled Joe Dougherty of Port Richmond .

Around five to seven unoccupied vehicles were damaged in the accident.

Neighbors say the incident left debris and damage in the area.

“I came out and thought it was like a bomb went off,” noted Christian Pace of Port Richmond.

“It sounded like a car going away from 95. It sounded like an explosion – it was loud,” Dougherty added.

Residents told Action News that after hearing the crash, many ran outside to see what happened and try to help.

Police say that’s when four juveniles wearing dark clothing, ski masks and down jackets fled the Dodge.

According to authorities, three of the minors may have left the scene in a white SUV that was following them.

A neighbor told Action News he saw the license plate of the fleeing car. This information has not yet been released by the police.

The driver of the Chevrolet, who police say is a 40-year-old AutoZone employee, was transported to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.

“I looked down and you could see the bed of the pickup where the gentleman was lying. That’s when my sister turned around to call the authorities,” Pace recalled.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Philadelphia Police at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
