Teens hit with machetes in fight near school – Winnipeg Free Press

A 17-year-old girl is facing charges after two teenagers were stabbed with machetes during a fight near a school in Winnipeg’s Norwood neighborhood last week.

City police said the fight involving a group of teenagers happened outside the school in the 100 block of St. Mary’s Road around 11 a.m. Oct. 16.

A 15-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were only slightly injured because their clothes and backpack protected them from the machete blows, police said.

School staff intervened and broke up the fight. The suspect fled.

Police said the girl, who was arrested Saturday and released, faces two counts of assault with a weapon and a single charge of possession of a weapon.
