Thieves destroy smart CCTVs in Mohali, steal 27 UPS batteries

The issue came to light after a case was registered following the complaint of Ambuj Singh, deputy director of Ghaziabad-based Technosys Integrated Solution Pvt Ltd.

Amid efforts by the Mohali police to increase surveillance at major intersections, thieves have already started vandalizing and stealing installed equipment.

The issue came to light after a case was registered following the complaint of Ambuj Singh, deputy director of Ghaziabad-based Technosys Integrated Solution Pvt Ltd.

The Punjab Police Housing Corporation, Phase-7, has awarded the city surveillance and intelligent traffic management system works in Mohali to the said company.

The command and control center for this system has been set up on the third floor of the Sohana police station building in Sector 79. “We have completed work at 10 junctions which are expected to be made operational soon. But it was noted that on October 10, several elements were missing from these junction boxes. Locks were found broken at the sites,” Singh said in his complaint.

A police official said as many as 27 UPS batteries were stolen at these intersections. Sohana police arrested the unidentified accused under section 303 (2) (theft) of the NBS.
