US investigates leak of Israeli military plans against Iran

The United States is investigating a breach of classified documents describing Israel’s strategic intent to launch an attack against Iran, three U.S. officials told The Associated Press. A fourth manager validated the authenticity of these documents.

Described as top secret, the documents are associated with the US Geospatial Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency. They reveal that Israel is positioning its military assets as a counterattack to Iran’s aggressive ballistic missile attack on October 1. These files were accessible to the “Five Eyes” countries – the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. Originally reported by CNN and Axios and posted online on Telegram, the documents are under investigation. Officials are investigating whether a deliberate leak by a member of the intelligence community or an external hack led to this exposure and whether it compromised other sensitive intelligence.

The documents come as the United States urges Israel to capitalize on the elimination of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and aims for a ceasefire in Gaza, while warning against expanding its military actions in the northern Lebanon to avoid regional conflict. Israel, however, remains determined to retaliate against the Iranian missile attack. The Pentagon reviewed the document’s reports but refrained from further comment.
