Press release

SYRACUSE — The Syracuse Public Library’s TeenTober fun continues the week of October 21. From 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22, teens can attend a special cryptid pinata craft program with Lala’s Pinatas Shop in the downstairs meeting room. They will discover the art of pinatas while creating their own.

Then, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, teens can participate in the Anime Club and explore new anime via the library’s Crunchyroll account. During this session, Amber Cox will likely share details of her recent trip to Japan.

The Anime Club meets in the downstairs meeting room and teens can enjoy a cup of instant ramen.

Teens can also participate in the Hallo-Read Challenge on Beanstack. Teenagers who read for an hour are entered into a drawing for a Lego bonsai kit.

Adult programs

Adults can join the Knitting and Crochet Club at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22, in the upstairs lounge area. Bring a project to work on or start a new one. The library offers different templates to use.

The Adult Book Club will meet to discuss “Strange Sally Diamond” by Liz Nugent at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, in the downstairs meeting room. The novel follows recluse Sally Diamond, who is thrust into the media spotlight when she attempts to cremate her deceased father, causing widespread outrage. Copies of the novel are available at the library. Digital copies of e-books and audiobooks may be available on Libby or on a waitlist.

For more information on adult programming, email Emilia Layne at (email protected).

School-aged children will learn how to create fall leaf mobiles at the next CrafterNoon at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22 in the downstairs meeting room.

Later in the week, families can attend story time at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 23 in the Children’s Department. The homeschool class also meets at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 23 in the downstairs meeting room. Children in grades one through three will learn about the states and their capitals.
