Council Bluffs Police Make Two Arrests Following Teen Shooting

Council Bluffs police arrested two 16-year-old boys Friday evening on suspicion of attempted murder and robbery in connection with the shooting of a 14-year-old boy.

Officers arrested the two teens around 10:30 p.m. with incident, according to a news release from the Council Bluffs Police Department. The names of those arrested, both Council Bluffs residents, have not been released.

The two teenagers were arrested on suspicion of two counts of attempted murder and two counts of robbery. They were booked into the Southwest Iowa Juvenile Detention Center.

The arrests stem from an incident around 7:15 p.m. Thursday in northeast Council Bluffs. Police and medics were called to the intersection of East Pierce and South First streets, where they located the 14-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound to one of his legs.

Police said two people arrested confronted the victim and another boy. One of the boys, 16, police said, pulled out a handgun and shot the victim once.

Doctors took the boy to a local hospital to treat his injury, which was not believed to be life-threatening.
