Three teens arrested after Nashville school administrators found weapons during random search

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) arrested three teenagers after school administrators discovered weapons during a random search Friday.

Loaded gun found on Antioch High School student, police say

The search was conducted at East Nashville Magnet High School, according to MNPD. Two 11th grade students reportedly threw their backpacks during the search. Once the bags were recovered, a handgun was found in each of them.

As a result, MNPD said a 16-year-old was charged with possession of a handgun by a minor, carrying a gun on school grounds, simple possession and violation of gun laws. drug-free school zones. Additionally, a 17-year-old youth was arrested and charged with possession of a handgun by a minor, carrying a weapon on school grounds and possession of burglary tools.

MNPD added that a third handgun was found in the vehicle of another 17-year-old. This 12th grade student was arrested and charged with possession of a handgun by a minor and carrying a weapon on school property.
