Telangana teacher brutally assaults student, parents demand swift action

In Telangana, a teacher was filmed beating a young student in front of his classmates. The disturbing video, recorded at Manasa Vikasa School in Gollagudem in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, shows the teacher mercilessly hitting and dragging the boy. The teacher in question would be the student’s homeroom teacher.

In the footage, the teacher can be seen approaching the boy, who was standing in a hallway next to his seated classmates. Without hesitation, the teacher forcefully holds the student down, inflicting multiple blows on his back, according to an NDTV report. Despite the boy’s cries of pain and visible discomfort, the assault continued. The teacher stops briefly to take his phone out of his front pocket before resuming the attack, hitting the boy several times.

Then the teacher asks the boy to get up, shows him a notebook, then throws it on the floor, demanding that the boy pick it up. When the boy bends down to obey, the teacher hits him again, drags him to the ground and administers further blows. The nature of the attack sparked widespread outrage.

After learning about the incident, the boy’s parents rushed to the school and confronted the administration, News18 reported. They demanded immediate action. In tears after watching the shocking images of their child being beaten without any justification, parents’ anguish added to growing calls for accountability.

Local authorities have since opened an investigation into the matter.

The case echoes a similar incident that occurred recently in Pune, Maharashtra, where a teacher was filmed beating a sixth-grade student for not tucking in his shirt. Following the incident, a case was registered by the police, highlighting the recurring problem of excessive punishment in schools.
