Police raid Atlanta mansion to evict squatters potentially linked to anti-government group: video

Authorities armed with rifles descended on a sprawling north Atlanta mansion to evict squatters who may be associated with the Sovereign Citizens movement, thrilling footage shows.

The Fulton County Marshal’s Department searched the gated 15,000 square foot home after being alerted to the presence of “unauthorized occupants” living in the neighborhood.

The video shows the marshals with police shields and long guns roaming the luxurious mansion featuring several interior Greek columns. Authorities checked several rooms in the house, according to the footage.

At one point, a law enforcement official can be seen talking to a woman outside; we don’t know who she was.

The department said it took extra precautions because officials received indications that the squatters might identify with the anti-government Sovereign Citizens movement.

During the raid, authorities also used a drone to inspect the massive property and locate tenants, commissioners said.

Squatting is a persistent problem in the Peach State, particularly in Atlanta.

“Even though property owners have the right to evict squatters, they must follow legal procedures,” the marshal’s department said.

More information about authorities’ search of the property was not immediately available.
