Two masked suspects damage doors with hammer in Plainville neighborhood before Halloween

PLAINVILLE, CT (WFSB) – Police are searching for two masked suspects who were seen knocking on doors in a neighborhood, alarming residents.

Plainville resident Stephanie Norman was awakened at 3 a.m. Monday by loud knocking at her front door.

When she examined the footage from her security camera, she discovered that the culprits were teenagers.

“One of them carried a ghost mask and a hammer with him. It was the really loud bang we heard, a hammer on the door,” Norman recalls.

The video shows the two individuals approaching his door, using the hammer to damage it before fleeing towards Mountain View Drive.

Concerned for his neighbors, Norman shared the images on Facebook to raise awareness, inspiring others to share similar experiences around the same time.

With her front door adorned with Halloween decorations, Norman acknowledged the season but noted it wasn’t the tricks she was expecting.

She gave advice to those looking to celebrate Halloween: “I would just say be respectful and careful. You don’t know what door you’re knocking on or who lives there. If you want to have fun, I understand, but don’t damage the property.

Norman reported the incident to police, who are now investigating.
