Evansville man accused of kidnapping ex-girlfriend in ‘jealous rage’

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – An Evansville man is in custody after police say he kidnapped his ex-girlfriend off the street.

Authorities say it happened around 4 a.m. Monday morning near Virginia Street and Kentucky Avenue.

The victim says she was receiving countless calls and texts from her ex-boyfriend, Andrew Clark. She said she received “120 messages in an hour and a half” from Clark.

Police said Clark allegedly drove up to the victim after she left a bar, grabbed her by the hair and forced her into the car.

The victim says Clark was in a “jealous rage” when he began threatening an apparent new boyfriend the victim was with, but police said they were unable to locate said boyfriend.

Still angry, police said Clark told the victim he was going to “kill them both by driving the vehicle they were in off the bridge.”

Police said the victim kept opening the passenger door to attract attention, eventually leading Clark to stop the car and allow the victim to escape to contact authorities.

Clark was arrested and charged with kidnapping and intimidation. He is currently being held in the Vanderburgh County Jail.
