Mumbai: A man was beaten to death by a mob in Mumbai’s Malad area in broad daylight after his car hit an autorickshaw in a road rage incident. The 28-year-old victim, Akash Main, was driving a car near Pushpa Park on Saturday evening when he tried to overtake an autorickshaw and hit it.

This sparked an altercation between the two. The fight escalated and the man engaged in a scuffle with passers-by in Dindoshi, police said. Everything turned violent and these people started beating Akash.

Akash’s parents, who were with him, tried to save him. In the video circulating on social media, his mother is seen lying on top of him to protect him while passers-by kicked him while his father continued to beg them.

The woman, Deepali, tried her best to save her son and continued to hold him tightly while the men slapped Akash’s father. He was then transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police have so far arrested nine people in the case.

Police sources claim that the victim started the fight, after which the mob beat him to death. Further investigation is underway.
