Bizman dies while filing complaint at police station, residents protest

Barwani: A 45-year-old businessman died at a police station while filing a complaint after a fight over a land conflict in Niwali in Barwani neighborhood of Madhya Pradesh. Angry villagers blocked the road with the body and created a ruckus at the police station. A video of the incident also went viral.
Niwali Police Station official RK Lowanshi told TOI that on Monday there was a dispute between Shailendra Vani and a tribal Sukhlal on a land located on the Niwali Kusmiya road. Shailendra opposed plowing the land but was reportedly defeated. While he was filing his complaint at the Niwali police station, he suddenly fell off his chair. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Sendhwa, but doctors declared him dead.
He said there was a dispute between the two parties over land since 1981-82, and it was pending in court.
Lowanshi said, “We have registered a case against Sukhlal, his three sons and a dozen others in the assault-related sections over the dispute. The exact cause of Shailendra Vani’s death will be known after the post-mortem.”
After the death of Shailendra Vani, angry family members and villagers blocked the road on the Sendhwa-Khetia highway, accusing the police and administration of weak action. They also demanded that a case of murder be registered against the accused.
Barwani ASP Anil Patidar, SDOP Ayush Alawa from Rajpur and SDOP Kamal Singh Chauhan from Sendhwa reached the spot with additional police force to control the situation.
