Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state vice-president Jatinder Mittal lodged a complaint at Focal Point police station in Ludhiana following which an FIR was registered.

A day after a shot was fired at district Congress president Sanjay Talwar’s car outside his house, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vice-president Jatinder Mittal claimed that a group unidentified men attacked him and his employee with stones and bricks. According to Mittal, the incident took place near his factory in Focal Point, Ludhiana, where two groups engaged in a scuffle and while he was intervening, they targeted him.

Mittal lodged a complaint at the Focal Point police station, following which an FIR was registered. He said that although he had police protection, he had allowed his gunmen to celebrate Dussehra with their families.

Mittal said that after attending the Dussehra celebrations on Saturday, he visited his factory at Focal Point around 9 p.m. Outside the factory, he saw a dozen men engaged in a violent altercation. He ignored the scene and entered his factory. Moments later, he heard noises and went outside with his worker to assess the situation.

Mittal said the men started throwing stones and bricks at each other. When he tried to stop them by warning them of potential property damage, the men became aggressive and began throwing stones at him. He and his employee had to rush back inside the factory for safety reasons, after which they informed the police.

The police arrived on the scene and managed to apprehend one of the attackers while the others fled. Later in the evening, Mittal claimed that one of the accused returned with a sharp weapon and tried to attack him again. However, his friend’s son, who accompanied him, prevented the attack.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (ACP, East) Jasbinder Singh said the police recorded the BJP leader’s statement. He added that the police had registered a case against the accused. A hunt is on for the arrest of the accused.
