WR local coach derailment affects rail services; no one was injured

Mumbai: On Sunday afternoon, two coaches of an unoccupied local train derailed while entering a car shed Since Bombay Centralimpacting Western Railway services. The incident occurred around 12:10 p.m. during a routine maintenance operation while the train was moving to the car shed. No passengers were on board and no injuries were reported, a railway spokesperson said.
The derailment affected commuter servicesespecially on the slow lane towards Dadar. To mitigate the impact on commuters, Western Railway has rerouted trains to the fast line between Churchgate and Mumbai Central. The railway authorities deployed their technical staff and emergency response teams to the derailment site. The process of getting the affected cars back on track and clearing the blocked track has been accelerated.
After the cars derail, a complete inspection of the track and train will be carried out to identify any damage or underlying issues that could have contributed to the derailment, an official said. The necessary repairs will be carried out to ensure the safety and reliability of the infrastructure, he said.
This incident highlights the importance of regular maintenance and safety checks of the tracks near the car shed.
